This ballpoint pen is made from wood from Gifu Prefecture, where woodworking culture is the most developed in Japan.

Japanese cedar is the most commonly planted tree not only in the Hida region, but also throughout Japan, and has been a staple wood in Japanese woodcrafting culture since ancient times. It is a natural element in Japanese-style interiors, including flooring, fittings, and furniture.

In particular, Nagara cedar, which is abundant along the Nagara River which runs through the center of Gifu Prefecture, is considered the ideal cedar for crafts because, as the kanji characters imply, it also means ‘long and good cedar’ and has a uniform grain and a rich appearance.
