Yew trees are famously grown in Ikiyama, Gifu Prefecture, and are therefore the prefectural tree of Gifu Prefecture. In general, the older the tree, the more beautiful its bark and the better its color and luster.
Yew has many of the necessary elements for processed products, such as being easy to process, being light, sticky, and not prone to warping, and being very elastic.
